Every journey to adulthood begins with a major turning point, and for Walter — the protagonist of After Class — it is the decision to leave home to start a new life. The world in this game is extremely strange: here, humans are no longer purely human. They are “beastmen” — creatures with the shape and characteristics of a hybrid between humans and beasts. This makes each individual in that world clearly express their personality and nature through their appearance. But does that really make integration easier? Players take on the role of Walter — a slightly awkward, but sincere “hybrid” between a husky, a malamute, and a wolf. He moves to the suburbs of Highwell, a place that seems peaceful but hides buried memories. The story focuses on the relationship between gay men, reflecting on emotions, loneliness, and the journey of finding oneself in this different world. In a society where “human” is no longer defined in the usual way, love and instinct are more distinct than ever.
